In the Beginning…

In the beginning…something that wasn’t now: is.

It’s like that at the start of something.  New.  Exciting.  Then, the reality of the thing sets in. Conception is over.  Gestation, complete.  The realization that you’ve only just finished the prequel sets in.

You find yourself celebrating, but only momentarily because the uneasiness is setting in.  A slow dressing of anxiety…sliding over your skin you like cool, satin pajamas…subtly shocking your senses awake.

You replay all the steps leading up to right now in your mind both consciously and sub-consciously.  You obsess about possible mistakes and wonder how and when they will show up.  Somehow you can’t escape the reminder that everything you’ve done to get here means nothing  if you can’t play (and win) the second half…because third and fourth quarters matter most…and the game clock is ticking.

You are looking at it.

The start of anything makes you ask yourself questions — am I good enough, will I BE enough, do I have enough?  It could go any number of ways…

(pssst…no one knows for sure right now)

Let’s keep it in perspective — you’ve only JUST made it to the starting line.  Focus on the task at-hand.  You’ve trained for this (or at least that’s what you will tell yourself every mile until you cross the finish line…wherever and whenever that may be).

Suffice it to say, I needed an uplifting spotlight on …

So Ya’ll Mad at Bruno Mars Now???

I included parts one and two so you can watch and listen for yourself.  It was a pretty well-rounded convo.  But for those who want to skip the 50 mins, here are questions to ask yourself and determine where you stand: Are we mad because Bruno is latinx?  …

Real Housewives.

Ahhh, to be or not to be…a housewife…for most it’s not even a viable option, we ALL have to work in this economy.  But, it is still a hot topic to be addressed every now and again. As a woman born in the 80’s, I experienced the latter evolution of …

Wade in the Sunken Place: A New Negro Spiritual

The sunken place isn’t just a place for Black apologists/coons/Uncle Toms — many of us have a toe in not realizing you’re just one post, podcast, or Snap from drowning in the deep end.  I mean, if we are going to talk “sunken place” let’s remember that Chris didn’t appear …
